CARNEGIE BOROUGH, Pa. — An 8-year-old boy led Carnegie's Light Up Night on Saturday in the position of "Mayor for the Day."
Joseph Mollica, who was diagnosed with a congenital disorder that affects cartilage and bone development, was chosen to fill the position by his elementary school and Carnegie Mayor Jack Kobistek.
"He's actually a local celebrity. People just love him. He's such a nice young man with such a great attitude, and it's just been a real honor to be a part of all of this," said Kobistek.
It was a busy day for Mollica. He met with Carnegie's police chief, was first in line to chat with Santa Claus, took a ride in a fire truck and lit the borough's Christmas tree.
