PITTSBURGH — There was a special delivery on the Parkway North hours before a major winter storm moved in.

It was around 12:30 a.m. that a woman delivered her own baby boy on the side of the I-279 in Pittsburgh.

Our crew spotted police, firefighters and paramedics near the East Ohio Street Exit.

We saw an officer carrying the infant to an ambulance, while other first responders helped the mother.

Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS says when first responders got on scene, they quickly assessed mom and baby, cut the umbilical cord and got ready to take them to the hospital. Medics say the baby didn’t need resuscitative efforts because he was breathing normally on his own.

Mom and baby got to spend some time together before they were taken to a hospital in separate ambulances.

Medics say mom and baby boy are doing okay.
