PITTSBURGH — Only Channel 11 obtained video of the end to a wild police chase on the South Side.
The surveillance video was at the center of a criminal trial for Donald Burris.
On Wednesday, Burris was found not guilty of aggravated assault and other serious charges. He was only found guilty of fleeing.
The video was played in the courtroom.
"Somebody shooting? Oh my God," a taxi cab driver said in the video.
Then gunfire is heard.
Police officers fired into Burris' car while men and women walked up and down Carson Street.
The cab driver is heard praying in the video.
"Lord be with me. Lord be with me," he said.
Burris and his defense attorney, Ann Marie Mancuso, said the officers' use of force was excessive.
Mancuso argued the officers were not in fear for their lives because one of their bullets went through Burris' airbag.
"This shows that the immediate threat to the officers at the point in time no longer existed. Otherwise, there would be no explanation, no logical explanation for why there was an entrance and exit hole through the airbag," she said.
