CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The elderly Chippewa man accused of assaulting children who were in his care at a day care center he ran out of his home in Beaver County waived all charges Tuesday to court.

Clarence Bryan was charged with indecent assault in August after police said he had inappropriate contact with a girl at a day care almost 10 years ago.

According to the police report, Bryan, 81, was working as a child care provider at Bryan's Day Care when he kissed a 5-year-old girl on the mouth several times between 2002 and 2003.

Investigators said Bryan was arrested and charged with indecent assault without consent, corruption of minors and other charges.

Police said Bryan, who operated the day care facility with his family at his Darlington Road home, admitted that he kissed the girl.

"In my eyes, this girl is a hero," Chippewa Police Chief Clint Berchtold said.

Two of the victims were in court Tuesday ready to testify against Bryan, but they didn't have to since he didn't appear.

"My client waived his right to a hearing and we're hoping we have these matters resolved very shortly," Bryan's attorney Jim Ross said.

There is no word when Bryan's trial is scheduled to begin.
