Cigna donates knitted baby caps to Magee

PITTSBURGH — Magee-Women’s Hospital received more than 1,000 handmade caps for the babies who are born there, including those treated in its neonatal intensive care unit.

A team from Cigna knitted and crocheted the caps as part of a March of Dimes campaign.

An estimated 11,000 babies are born each year at Magee, and its NICU cares for ill and premature newborns.

Head coverings are known to help the sick and premature babies maintain body heat, which is essential to their development.
