PITTSBURGH — Major investments are coming to baseball fields across Pittsburgh.

Mayor Corey O’Connor and the Pirates Charities gathered at a ball field in the West End on Thursday to announce a $600,000 investment.

The money will be used to buy equipment to maintain fields and new scoreboards.

“We have to start competing. If we want Pittsburgh to be every family’s first choice, it comes to details. It comes to supporting places we see each and every day,” O’Connor said.

Pirates Charities will chip in $300,000.

The Pennsylvania Laborers District Council is providing the other half.
