Butler County Community College is eliminating 32 credit programs.
Trustees unanimously approved motions to formally discontinue the programs — 19 led to associate’s degrees and 13 to certificates, during a board meeting on October 21, following an academic portfolio review and program analysis.
The 18 students who are enrolled in five of the programs can complete their credentials through teach-out plans, BC3 said. Teach-out plans that allow students to finish their credentials have been developed for those enrolled in the discontinued programs. BC3 advisers have contacted those students.
The board also approved a second motion that discontinues 20 legacy programs that have not been offered in at least 10 years. These 20 programs were not part of the academic portfolio review and program analysis. The formal discontinuation aids in record keeping, BC3 said.
