PLUM, Pa. — The Plum community came together in support of their fire chief and his need for a new kidney.
Chief Carey Cole has worked as a firefighter for about 30 years. He has lived with diabetes for just as long and now needs a new kidney.
The Renton Volunteer Fire Department and ‘Head Turners Pittsburgh Chapter’ put together a spaghetti luncheon benefit to help support him on Sunday.
“Utterly amazing. We’re very proud people, so we keep everything to ourselves. So this is overwhelming. It’s special,” Chief Cole said.
Cole is currently undergoing dialysis and is on the kidney transplant list in both Pittsburgh and Cleveland.
Head Turns Pittsburgh said the event raised over $8,000.
