As Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire’s body was brought back to town with a procession, dozens of community members watched in in the pouring rain, in silence.

Linda Artman was one of them.

”To honor Justin. It’s a shame. These guys put their life on the line every day, and get little to no respect, and they deserve so much better,” Artman said.

Earlier in the day, people stopped by to honor him at the front door of the borough building, by bringing flowers, flags, and candles.

His body was brought back to Brackenridge to prepare for his funeral.

”When I saw this on TV last night, it broke my heart,” another woman said.

Brackenridge Mayor, Lindsay Fraser, told us that she grew up with Chief McIntire.

”The chief was kind, gentle and thoughtful and funny. He was old school, and he was great. A great guy and a great cop,” Fraser said. She’s told us, the community is taking it day by day.”All we can do right now its take some time to grieve, mourn, and to be in community with each other in this moment. We will worry about tomorrow tomorrow,” Fraser said.
