ROCHESTER, Pa. — A child is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Beaver County.
Beaver County dispatchers said emergency crews were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Lacock Street in Rochester Borough at 4:50 p.m. on Friday for reports of a person hit by a vehicle.
At 6:45 p.m., Beaver County sources told Channel 11 that the victim was a child, around 10-12 years old, who was on a bike.
That source said the driver did not stay at the scene.
The child’s name has not been released, but Rochester School District officials confirmed he was a third grader at the elementary school.
Saturday morning, Rochester Police reported the vehicle had been located and the suspected driver was in the Beaver County Jail.
Police did not provide further details, saying the investigation is ongoing.
