Cranberry Township has opened volunteer applications for its Leaf Angel Program.
The initiative matches volunteers with residents who need assistance collecting autumn leaves.
The program offers an opportunity for sports teams, schools, businesses and individuals seeking volunteer hours. Help provided to residents will be allocated based on the total number of volunteers who sign up.
Volunteers must be at least 15 years old or accompanied by an adult. Participants are encouraged to work in teams for maximum efficiency and must supply their own rakes and gloves.
Leaf disposal must comply with guidelines established by Vogel Waste Disposal. Township requirements dictate that all leaves be placed inside designated yard waste carts or biodegradable bags and left at the curb for pickup. The township will not accept loose leaves or unapproved plastic bags.

Township residents who want help with leaf removal can begin registering on Oct. 12.
