LYNDORA, Pa. — A fire broke out Wednesday night at a steel plant in Butler County.

Flames sparked shortly after 9:30 p.m. at Cleveland-Cliffs’ Butler Works steel plant on Armco Drive in Lyndora.

A Cleveland-Cliffs spokesperson said the fire started in an overhead cable tray at a finishing line in the plant.

Employees were evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Multiple fire stations were called to battle the flames, officials said.

The spokesperson said in a statement sent to Channel 11 News shortly after 11:30 p.m. that the fire was contained and extinguished.

“The company is assessing the situation and an investigation including representatives from Cleveland-Cliffs, the UAW and OSHA has been initiated,” the statement added.
