DUQUESNE — Neighbors told Channel 11 a man jumped from the roof of a house that caught fire this morning in Duquesne.

Firefighters were called to the fire, located in the 1400 block of Kennedy Avenue, around 5:35 a.m.

The man was transported to a local hospital. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Chief Frank Cobb of the Duquesne Fire Department said the house is a total loss.

Video from a Channel 11 photographer at the scene showed heavy smoke coming from the two-story structure, which appeared to have extensive damage.

“Once we realized he was off [the roof], the house was accounted for, everybody was out. That’s when we transferred into attack mode. We deployed two lines right off the back, a crew went in and put together a plan of action and attacked the fire,” said Cobb.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office said they’re working to determine what caused the fire.
