PORTERSVILLE, Pa. — The body of a New Kensington man who went missing while on a fishing trip at Moraine State Park has been found.

Park manager Dan Bickel says he found 42-year-old Matthew Parys on Monday evening in a 9-foot-deep section of Lake Arthur, about 50 yards away from a boat launching dock.

Investigators said  Parys was on a fishing trip with three friends when he tried to swim to a dock Saturday night and never made it. Officials said they’re not sure if Parys jumped or fell from the boat.

"They went out fishing and when they came back they were under the bridge. Parys was sitting on the back of the boat and when they came to the dock -- no one witnessed this, but a 13-year-old heard a splash," Bickel said.

Authorities said Parys went missing 50 to 75 yards from the dock near Route 528. An official with the Butler County communications center said Parys was reported missing about 1 a.m. Sunday.
