PITTSBURGH — A family was able to escape from their home after it caught fire early Thursday morning.
The house is located on Allen Street in the Allentown neighborhood.

The cause of the fire is in part due to a mosquito-repellent candle that caught drapes on fire.
The fire quickly got out of control, and the house was destroyed. Chris Puder, a neighbor, said that the the family was "really upset" after losing almost all of their possessions.
Channel 11’s Timyka Artist spoke to an 11-year-old boy that lived in the house with his grandparents.
“When I woke up I smelled smoke, so we called the fire department then ran out the house,” said Trejawn Steals.
All three of the family members were sleeping when the fire started, but were able to make it out on time.
When asked how severe the fire was, Steals said, “Bad. I heard the kitchen falling.”
No injuries were reported and no other homes were damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
