PITTSBURGH — Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was expected to make his exhibition debut Saturday.
Instead, he'll miss today's 4 p.m. game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Consol Energy Center because of the death of his grandmother.
In a team-issued release, the Penguins said Crosby has traveled home to Nova Scotia to be with his family.
Forward Andrew Ebbett will take his place in the lineup.
Crosby has missed the Penguins' first three preseason games with an undisclosed injury.
Forward Chris Kunitz, who has also yet to play in the preseason, is expected to make his preseason debut.
