The Community College of Beaver County is dealing with a cyberattack.
A college official tells Channel 11 that the attack on Monday included “the encryption of some of our data.”
Once the college learned of the incident, it took immediate steps to investigate and remediate, including reports to law enforcement and federal regulators, and engaging experienced cybersecurity professionals to assist.
“Our team has been working around the clock with cybersecurity professionals to secure our systems and learn more about the situation, including what information may have been impacted. We will provide updates to our community as we complete a thorough investigation and more information becomes available,” a statement from the college said.
All college IT resources are locked down and the campus is closed.
This attack occurred while students and faculty are on spring break.
