PITTSBURGH (AP) — Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. said Friday that two Pittsburgh police officers didn't follow their training when they left a home where a woman called 911 less than a day before she was found fatally shot.
Zappala said his review of Ka'Sandra Wade's death and the police response is ongoing.
The 33-year-old woman was found dead about 7 p.m. on Jan. 1, less than 24 hours after two city officers responded to the 911 call from her home.
Zappala said the officers are trained to talk to the person who called 911 before leaving such a scene.
The officers left after they were told by Wade's boyfriend that nothing was wrong and he denied them entrance.
Wade's boyfriend fatally shot himself when police went to his home after finding Wade's body.
