PITTSBURGH (AP) — Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. said no criminal charges are warranted in the death of the son of a northeastern Pennsylvania judge who was struck by a vehicle in Pittsburgh on April 6.
Zappala said video surveillance cameras in the area and other evidence reviewed so far show no criminal culpability in the death of 22-year-old Cody Barrasse. Barrasse was the son of Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Barrasse.
Barrasse was a senior at Penn State when he was hit about 2:15 a.m. Saturday in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood.
Authorities said the driver of the vehicle initially left the scene, but then called police.
Zappala said the investigation will remain open because it involves a fatality, and charges could be filed if evidence surfaces to support them.
