PITTSBURGH — Somehow, between developing its language-learning platform, investing in public art and community initiatives and making TikToks, Pittsburgh-based Duolingo Inc. (NASDAQ: DUOL) found the time to embark on its newest venture: a taco restaurant located near its headquarters in East Liberty.
Duo’s Tacquería, will open as a take-out window in June 2022 on Penn Avenue, next to 5900 Penn Avenue, with plans to expand into a full restaurant with indoor seating next year. It will be helmed by Chef Marcella Ogrodnik, best known as the operator of Cafe Agnes, where she served her Salvadoran cuisine at farmer’s markets throughout the city.
The company said that it will be serving “Mexico City inspired tacos with a focus on fresh nixtamal tortillas made in house,” in addition to offerings that include agua frescas, salsas and sides. The window will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
