Early morning crash knocks out power to Pittsburgh neighborhood for more than 12 hours

PITTSBURGH — An early-morning car crash in Polish Hill knocked out power for more that 12 hours.

The car slammed into a utility pole around 4 a.m., with medics warning that live wires were down at the scene.

The driver, Charles Hoover II, reportedly told police he just came from a bar.

While crews worked to replace the utility pole and restore power, residents were left displaced and cold.
