Ellwood City woman accused of shoplifting with 1-year-old baby

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — An Ellwood City woman is accused of shoplifting with her daughter, and then leading police on a chase through the woods.

According to police, Sara Gasper, 27, is accused of taking more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Chippewa Township on Nov. 10 while she had her 1-year-old daughter with her.

Investigators said Gasper tried to run into some nearby woods to escape, but was caught.

Gasper has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 17.

She is facing several charges, including felony retail theft and endangering the welfare of a child.
