Emergency crews spend hours battling flames at abandoned schoolhouse in Washington County

CALIFORNIA BOROUGH, Pa. — Emergency crews spent hours battling a fire at an abandoned schoolhouse in Washington County.

Washington County Dispatchers say crews were called to 15 School Street in California Borough at around 4:50 p.m. on Saturday. Emergency crews did not clear the scene until around 10:20 p.m.

When police arrived they reported heavy fire coming from the abandoned Patten School. Eight fire companies were called to help.

Investigators say they believe the building was being used for personal storage.

There were no reported injuries.
