HARRISBURG, Pa. — In just over 24 hours, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz will meet in Harrisburg to take the stage for their only debate ahead of Election Day.
The two candidates are squaring off for Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat that could determine the balance of power in Washington.
The candidates won’t be the only ones on stage Tuesday night, however. There will also be a closed-captioning system for Fetterman.
Real-time captioners will be employed for the debate.
His campaign says he needs the technology due to the side-effects of his stroke.
While you at home will be seeing Fetterman standing behind the podium and talking into microphones, Fetterman will be seeing questions on monitors. Everything the moderators ask him will be up on the screen in addition to responses from Oz.
The captioners will transcribe everything being said in real time.
Both campaigns agreed to this, which is what made this upcoming debate possible.
