Fairmont Pittsburgh names new executive chef with Top Chef credentials

PITTSBURGH — The Fairmont Pittsburgh has a new executive chef, Janine Falvo.

Chef Falvo most recently was the executive chef of the 1781 Club in Peters Township and has previously cooked across the country, including representing Sonoma, California at a dinner New York City’s prestigious James Beard House in 2010. She has also been a contestant on multiple cooking shows, including Top Chef and Cutthroat Kitchen. Now, Falvo has taken the reigns at the Fairmont downtown, taking over its fl.2 restaurant and event spaces and wedding offerings. The announcement comes months after the hotel unveiled renovated rooms.

“I’ve been working on dinner menus, all of the menus for fl.2 would be first for me and I’ve been working on them a lot and with the holidays coming up thinking about what we could do to stand out,” Falvo said. “We want to build on Pittsburgh flavors. We want to use as many local artisans as we possibly can. I think that really resonates with locals, we’re a very proud city, so anything that we can use anything local I’m very proud to use it and showcase it.”
