BELLEVUE, Pa. — The family of a woman who was hit and killed on Route 65 in Bellevue Sunday is calling for changes to the roadway.
Residents and businesses in the town described the stretch of road, which is also known as Ohio River Boulevard, as dangerous. In the past two weeks, two people, including 51-year-old Carol Lowery-Tait, have been hit and killed on the boulevard.

Lowery-Tait, a mother of two, was crossing the busy street Sunday night when the fatal crash occurred.
“She meant a lot to us. We're going to miss her,” Mary Lowery, Lowery-Tait’s older sister, said.
Surveillance video obtained by Channel 11 News Tuesday showed Lowery-Tait final moments alive.
"She's using the sidewalk now, but she's going to cross the street where there is not a crosswalk,” Joe Rostan, the owner of Bean Thru on Ohio River Boulevard, said.
Rostan told Channel 11 News that Sunday’s deadly accident isn’t the first one his surveillance camera has captured.
"It doesn't surprise me anymore. I feel terrible for the people involved,” he said.
People who spoke with Channel 11 News Tuesday said the problem with the roadway is that there’s only a sidewalk on one side of the street.
“There should be a sidewalk all the way down,” Lowery said.
Lowery-Tait’s older sister said she wants to see Route 65 become safer.
“She was a great sister wonderful mother,” Lowery said. “Something needs done about that road. She wasn't careless.”
Upon completion of the investigation into the fatal crash, the case will be reviewed by the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office to determine if charges should be filed against the driver who struck Lowery-Tait.
