According to authorities, Michael Leicht, 42, drove to the bank in his own car and walked inside wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses in an attempt to disguise himself.
Investigators said he didn’t have a gun and simply handed the teller a note.
“He passed a note at the bank - gave them a note - and they gave him the money immediately,” said Forest Hills Police Department Chief Chuck Williams.
Police said moments later, officers caught up with Leicht, leading to a six-minute chase with police.
The chase ended when Leicht crashed his car into a hill at the intersection of Larimer Avenue and Harrison Street in Wilkins and caught on fire, authorities said.
“He lost control trying to run around a bus and it didn’t work for him and he ended up on a hill side,” said Williams.
Leicht was able to exit the vehicle unharmed and was arrested at the scene. Police said inside his car, they found a wad of cash.
“You can see the money from the robbery lying on the seat there, so we are happy we will recover that,” said Willaims.

According to the criminal complaint, Leicht admitted to robbing other banks in the past. Investigators said they are following up to connect him to those past robberies.
