PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh fire officials are investigating a blaze that damaged two homes in Larimer early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out along Llewellyn Street around 1 am and spread from the initial house to the roof of the home next door.
Now six people are out of their homes, including Simmie Page.
“[I’m] in a state of disbelief, I guess,” Page said.
He was at work when he found out the flames were spreading to his home as his wife and two kids were sleeping.
“I left work and came home. By the time I came home, my roof was on fire,” said Page.
According to Page, two people lived in the home next door, where the fire started.
Only one was home overnight and he got out safely.
“He’s in a bad situation,” said Page. “His home is a total loss. He lost everything he had. The only thing he had was the clothes on his back.”
As for Page’s home, he says his roof and third floor are destroyed and the rest has water damage.
“I’m happy we’re all alive, but a little depressed about the whole situation,” said Page.
Page and his family will be staying with other loved ones until they can get back in their home.
