PITTSBURGH — Arson investigators are looking into what sparked a fire in Pittsburgh’s Spring Hill neighborhood late Tuesday night.
Officials said the fire began at a vacant home on Yetta Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“I breathed a sigh of relief that it was empty and no one was inside. I know how close it was to others,” one neighbor said.
Firefighters said the flames spread to two occupied nearby homes, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage.
Neighbors who live in the area told Channel 11’s Trisha Pittman that the doors to the vacant house, which has been without utility service for several months, have been open for the past couple of weeks.
“There’s an ally back there, and we have a drug problem because it’s dark back there. At night, people come and buy and shoot heroin down by the playground. We don’t know if someone was in there doing things, or what happened,” neighbor John Steele said.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
