PENN HILLS, Pa. — Channel 11’s Dave Bondy reported Tuesday that a student was caught with a weapon inside a Penn Hills middle school.

The police chief tells Channel 11 News that officers were called to Linton Middle School, in the Penn Hills School District, after a Swiss Army knife multi-tool was discovered in the backpack of a seventh grader.

Police said the student forgot the knife was in his backpack and it was discovered when he went through the metal detector.

The chief said they will not be pursuing the case any further because he believes there was no any intent on the student’s part. Disciplinary action may be taken by the school, however police say the case is closed.
