RACCOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Beaver County family is picking up the pieces after a fire destroyed their business.
Melted wrenches, chainsaws, and a lot of rubble show just how intense the fire was at the Campbell home.
“Oh, my god. Everything is gone,” recalled Teagan Campbell.
The fire started around 4:15 a.m. on Aug. 6.
The family was woken up by a neighbor who lives behind their home, who heard explosions.
“There were two other large explosions, and then multiple, multiple smaller explosions that followed throughout,” Campbell said. “Directly right here was a very large pull-down garage door that whenever the first explosion happened, it was actually crumpled into a ball and blasted about 15 feet out behind you.”
Campbell said the family never heard any of that.
The building where her family stored maintenance equipment, tools passed down from her husband’s grandfather that he got in the early 1900s that aren’t even made anymore, and paintings done by her husband’s grandmother, was covered in flames.
“It’s just unfathomable to just even sit back and think that my husband’s dream that he’s been working on and building since 1991, since he was in high school, can just be gone,” she said.
They also lost their cat in the fire.
And now, the Campbells say their livelihood, Campbell’s Lawn Care, which her husband started more than 30 years ago, might not be able to survive after losing almost everything.
They have insurance, but they only expect it to cover a fraction of what they lost.
So they have launched a GoFundMe in hopes of keeping the business afloat.
“Every single cent goes to helping in this matter to get his dream back to get his happiness back,” Campbell said.
