Flames severely damage Jefferson Hills home

JEFFERSON HILLS — Firefighters worked quickly to put out a fire in an Allegheny County home overnight.

The Jefferson Hills Fire Department was called to a home on Arnoni Drive overnight. Once on scene, firefighters found flames bursting out of the home’s garage.

Firefighters say they were able to keep the fire contained to the first floor and got the bulk of the flames under control within five minutes.

Photos shared by the department show significant damage to the home, especially the garage, including a burnt-out vehicle.

A video from inside the home shows serious smoke damage, except inside a bedroom that had its door shut. Firefighters posted the video to show why it’s important to sleep with doors closed.

They say a closed door can slow the spread of smoke, toxic gases and extreme heat, giving people more time to get out themselves or be rescued in time.
