PITTSBURGH — Another round of strong storms moved through parts of the Channel 11 News viewing area on Sunday, once again leaving many residents with lots of damage and cleanup.

In Glassport, firefighters said they had to shut power off to several customers on Vermont Street, where many homes were flooded.

The Wirbicki family said their home was flooded for the third time in one month. Jerry Wirbicki said the cause of the flooding is from a sinkhole located in front of their home. The family said they’re now asking the borough for help since they are unable to get flood insurance.

“We’ve been begging them to look. One more good storm and we may lose the house,” Jerry Wirbicki said.

"I'm upset because now we have to leave our house. We have to take our animals," Joanne Wirbicki said. This house has been with my husband's family. It never left his family…, his dad and grandfather lived here."

Borough worker Michael DeSue visited the home Monday morning. He said a storm drain collapsed under the house and they’re working to repair the line and check on the home’s foundation. It is now up to an inspector to determine if the home is liveable.

The heavy rain also shut down parts of neighboring boroughs Dravosburg and McKeesport.
