PITTSBURGH — Plans to close the inbound lanes of the Fort Pitt Tunnel this weekend have been canceled, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Friday afternoon.
The inbound lanes of the tunnel were expected to close Friday night for crews to remove the ceiling for replacement. However, expected inclement weather prompted PennDOT to keep the tunnel open.
The ceiling inside the tunnel has been sagging and required emergency repairs last year. Once removed, the issue will no longer be a concern for drivers and PennDOT.
The closure has not been rescheduled.
