Garbage truck crashes into utility pole in the South Hills; nearly 1K customers without power

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A garbage truck brought down a utility pole in Scott Township on Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Painters Run Road.

As of 6:45 a.m., West Penn Power is reporting nearly 1,000 customers without power.

No one was injured.

There is no timeline for when the road will reopen.
