A Giant Eagle customer has a warning after she says her perks were stolen right from her account.
“They don’t know what they put me through…they were just being thieves,” Mary Ann Mulligan told Channel 11.
Mulligan is always checking on her Giant Eagle Fuel Perks and knows when to cash them in to get a tank of gas at the GetGo off of Camp Horne Road.
That’s why she was shocked when she got an email from Giant Eagle this week.
“There’s a notice from GetGo that says, ‘Tell us about your experience at the gas station in McKeesport,’ and they gave the address. I was like, ‘We just woke up and haven’t been to the GetGo!’”
She immediately got on the phone with customer service and spent two hours with agents trying to get her fuel perks and coupons back.
They told her someone randomly typed in her phone number at the McKeesport GetGo.
“The things that these hackers do, they just put in numbers and they got yours and there were $17 in fuel perks on it,” she said.
Channel 11 reached out to Giant Eagle, and a spokesperson told us they have a new security process to help customers prevent someone from stealing their perks.
You can now create a MyPerks PIN number to use each time you go to Giant Eagle, Market District, or Getgo.
