PITTSBURGH — Local kids got their hair styled for the new school year during a community event in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.
“The Give Back” is now in its fourth year, providing kids with free lunch, backpacks with school supplies, clothes and haircuts.
Organizer Kayla James says the effort keeps getting bigger every year.
“Each year we try to find more hair stylists,” James said. “This year we have about 10 stylists, five barbers. We’re able to service up to 40 kids this year. We got donations from different hair stores.”
More than 200 backpacks were supposed to be given away this year,
