GLASSPORT, Pa. — A Glassport man filed a police report Monday after he said he paid a roofing company $2,500 and they haven’t done any work.
Anthony Aceto said he contacted the company earlier this month to get an estimate on getting his roof fixed. Aceto said the company sent two employees to examine his house and told him on Aug. 6 it would cost about $5,000.
According to Aceto, he paid the company a $2,500 deposit and was told they would start the work the next day. Aceto said the check was cashed the following day in Columbus, Ohio.
“They said, ‘Don’t worry, don’t worry, we’ll fix it the way you want it,’” Aceto said.
Aceto said no work has been done on his roof and someone from the company told him they were out of town.
“I feel foolish,” Aceto told Channel 11’s Vince Sims. He said he got a flier for the company from his neighborhood.
Glassport police confirmed that they took a report from Aceto and that they were unsuccessful in contacting the company. They said they left messages and the company has yet to call back.
Police said they’re investigating the incident as a fraud case.
Representatives from the company could not be reached to comment on the situation.
