Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest host 27th Empty Bowls Fundraiser

PITTSBURGH — The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank partnered with Just Harvest to host their year’s Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Sunday.

The event aimed to address hunger across the region by providing a simple meal of soup and bread.

Attendees were able to select their choice of a ceramic bowl made by local artisans to take home as a reminder that our neighbors are facing hunger.

“We’re back in person for empty bowls it’s the 27th year,” said Lisa Scales, CEO of the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “It’s such a great gathering today. Met so many friends and supporters of the food bank. They’re here to ensure our missions and make sure all our neighbors have consistent access to nutritious food.”

Nearly 2,000 people attended the event.

More than $1 million has been raised between the two organizations since they began in 1996.
