GREENSBURG, Pa. — A Westmoreland County sailor killed in Bahrain in 2006 was honored Saturday in Greensburg.
Officials with VFW Post 33 renamed a footbridge in Lynch Field after Petty Officer Roger Napper Jr.
Napper’s family was on hand for the unveiling.
Officials said it’s a way for his service to always be remembered.
“God bless him. He served his country, and he died serving it,” VFW Post 33 Commander Alisha D’Astolfo said. “And just like anybody, everybody deserves something when you serve this country, and especially for those who don’t get to come home.”
This past Wednesday marked 20 years since Napper’s death.
