GREENSBURG, Pa. — Residents of a Greensburg apartment building have been living without water for weeks because their landlord hasn’t paid the water bill.

For nearly three weeks, tenants in the George Street building have been struggling without running water that is supposed to be included in their rent.

“We have to go elsewhere to fill up water jugs for basic necessities and things like that. It's stressful,” said Jonathan Gray. “You work every day, you come home, you try to get a shower and things like that and you have to go elsewhere to take a shower.”

Violation notices from the City of Greensburg obtained by Channel 11 list the landlord as Patty Butler, who lives in the apartment building.

After calling the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, Gray said he was told there is an outstanding water bill for more than $600.

“She [Butler] would say it's going to be on the next day, the next day, the next day,” said Gray.

He said he is tired of the empty promises and that tenants are low on money due to eating out.

City officials said they have been in contact with Butler’s attorney and are confident the matter will be resolved.
