PITTSBURGH — School officials said a gun was found outside of Taylor Allderdice High School on its property on Monday.
According to a message sent from the school's principal, school police were asked to conduct a search after rumors were heard about a "possible problem" at the school.
"A weapon was discovered outside of the school on school property. The weapon is currently in the custody of school police," a letter sent to parents said.
School leaders said a secondary search was conducted by city of Pittsburgh police to ensure the safety of students.
Additional security was also added to help with dismissal. Officials said the added security will remain at the school for the remainder of the week.
