LIGONIER, Pa. — The persistent heavy rain and strong winds have forced a popular event to end early.
Fort Ligonier Days is not operating Sunday, the last scheduled day of a festival that celebrates the region’s history.
Even before the official cancellation, officials said most craft and food vendors were electing not to participate, and the weather forced the cancellation of all scheduled entertainment.
Fort Ligonier Days, a celebration of history, community and tradition, brings out hundreds of vendors and 100,000 visitors to Westmoreland County each year.
Organizers thanked the visitors who came out on Friday and Saturday and stressed that the safety of visitors, vendors, entertainers, and volunteers is their highest priority.
