HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A township in Westmoreland County is helping residents clean up after the recent strong storms.

The Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors will work with County Hauling and the Hempfield Fire Department (HFD) to open drop-off locations for storm debris.
It’s scheduled to begin Sunday. Residents can check the township’s social media and website for updates.
Here are the locations for each type of waste:
Flood and yard waste
- Municipal Building — 1132 Woodward Drive
- HFD - Midway/St. Clair Station — 1966 Broadway Avenue
- HFD Station 501 – North Hempfield — 1284 Business Route 66
Flood waste only
- Adamsburg VFD Auxiliary Lot (across from the station) — 488 Edna Road
Yard waste only
- Hempfield Park — Dog Park Lot (Lot 2) — 220 Forbes Trail Road
Officials say residents should place general refuse and storm debris inside the roll-off dumpsters at those locations, which are self-service.
Sticks, branches, tree limbs and other plant material should be put on the ground in marked yard waste areas.
Bags, containers and household trash should not be put in yard waste piles.
