The New York Times also said that the plan for the appearance could change because Lorne Michaels, the show's creator, likes to keep guests a surprise and sometimes changes the lineup at the last minute.
Clinton is expected to join Kate McKinnon, who has been the most recent SNL cast member to portray Clinton on the show, in the opening of the show.
Clinton has been impersonated on the show for years by a number of actresses and comedians, including Jan Hooks and Amy Poehler.
