HOMESTEAD, Pa. — An abandoned Homestead home is becoming a dangerous eyesore for locals.

The house on Sylvan Avenue has been in bad shape for the last two years, according to the house’s neighbor, Ada Lewis, who lives with her mother and sister.

"Looking at the roof on top of it, I'm just concerned about it falling on my mom's house," said Lewis.

In fact, Lewis also said that a tree on the property fell on her sister, hurting her shoulder. The Homestead Borough manager told WPXI's Brandon Hudson that the home was cited for violations, including broken windows, weeds and tall grass.

However, the manager said the home is in good shape and can potentially have a family move into it.

There are currently 35 homes listed on the Homestead demolition list, but the borough only has enough money to tear down two or three homes a year. The abandoned home next to Lewis’ is not on the list.
