Huntington to cut downtown Pittsburgh branch, second closure so far this year

PITTSBURGH — Huntington National Bank has closed a branch north of Pittsburgh and will soon shutter one in downtown Pittsburgh.

The latter is a rarity for the financial institution which has been steadily building its brick-and-mortar presence inside the city with 10 new branches in seven years. But this is a unique situation. The branch is located at the Grant Building where the bank’s regional headquarters has been based since 2011.

Huntington this spring is moving its Pittsburgh corporate offices to The Vision in the Strip District, so closing the Grant Building branch is not surprising.
