SEVEN FIELDS BOROUGH, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate an apparent murder-suicide in Seven Fields that happened early Tuesday morning.
Troopers told Channel 11 that 26-year-old Ryan Hosso shot and killed his wife, 25-year-old Madeline Spatafore Hosso, in their home before going into the woods and taking his own life.
Police got a call early this morning from Ryan Hosso’s parents saying he had told them he had shot and killed his wife, and he was talking about taking his own life.
“Northern Regional PD responded to the residence and they did find a female victim about 25-years-old with multiple gunshot wounds,” Trooper Bertha Cazy said.
A photo of the couple was posted on Madeline’s Facebook page in October 2024. According to the wedding website “The Knot,” the two were married in September 2024 in Ohio.
The pair graduated from Seneca Valley High School — Ryan in 2018, and Madeline in 2019.
According to her Facebook and LinkedIn pages, Madeline studied at Duquesne University and had been working at UPMC Presby as a Neurovascular Critical Care Physician Assistant since November 2024.
She was in the honors college at Duquesne, a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, and other organizations.
Ryan Hosso’s LinkedIn page said he worked as a mechanical engineer for Vavco, a Pittsburgh-based engineering firm for the oil and gas industry.
The owner of the company told Channel 11 Hosso hadn’t worked there in three or four years, but said he was shocked and saddened to hear the news.
“Our crime unit will be talking to the neighbors to try and get a history of what was going on and see if there was anything they noticed that was out of place, but I don’t have those details right now,” Cazy said.
Neighbors Channel 11 spoke to didn’t want to speak on camera. One neighbor said she didn’t know them, but said it was a sad day for their small street.
Channel 11’s Andrew Havranek reached out to Seneca Valley, Duquesne University, UPMC, and BalTec, another employer listed on Ryan Hosso’s LinkedIn page, but has not heard back.
