LATROBE, Pa. — With inclement weather expected again on Monday, the Steelers decided to break training camp at St. Vincent College in Latrobe early.

Weather was a major storyline throughout camp, repeatedly shutting down practices to fans and forcing the Steelers indoors.

The Steelers were supposed to have two more practices in Latrobe before heading back to their facility on Pittsburgh’s South Side.

Head Coach Mike McCarthy said the weather has been disappointing for the team and fans.

“You know, in some ways, disappointed to leave here because this is such a great environment for us to train in,” he said. “You know, it’s disappointing, apparently for the fans. Just because some of you, those are our best practices when everybody’s out there. I really think this is not only a special place, but this is a great place to train a football team, just the whole environment and so forth.”

McCarthy says he’s already looking forward to coming back next year and is already thinking about changes he wants to make for next training camp —including maybe staying in Latrobe longer.

The Steelers’ are heading back to Pittsburgh on Monday. Their next practice is on Wednesday.
