WASHINGTON, Pa. — An interchange on Interstate 70 in Washington County was dedicated Wednesday to an officer killed in the line of duty.
East Washington Officer John David Dryer was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Route 136 and Interstate 70 one year ago.
The 46-year-old part-time officer was also a veterinarian and a father. His family members said Dryer also worked for the Pennsylvania Game Commission and was the owner of the Chestnut Veterinary Clinic in Washington.
Dryer left behind a teenage son and several family members who attended Wednesday's ceremony.
Investigators said Dryer was shot by Franklin Myers. Police said Myers shot Dryer when he pulled him for having an unregistered vehicle.
Myers was later killed by officers during a standoff at a home in Webster, Washington County.
